ASNT NDT Program Renewal Requirements
Detailed explanation with table of renewal points values.
ASNT NDT Certificate holders are permitted to renew by points at five
year intervals unless recertification by examination is required by
another third-party. ASNT defines renewal and recertification as follows:
Renewal by Points is done by submitting documentation indicating
that certain requirements have been met and does not require examination.
Renewal by Examination requires re-examination in each applicable
test method.
Note: Certificate holders have the option
to renew by examination instead of renewing by points.
Because ASNT has recently revised the renewal requirements for NDT certification,
the options for renewal have changed. To determine what requirements
you are required to satisfy, select the certification program and category
below that fits your current certification to find the information that
applies to your certification.
ASNT NDT Level III
ASNT requires that ASNT NDT
Level III certificate holders may renew by points at 5-year intervals as shown
below:
If
one or more of your current ASNT NDT Level III test methods expire before May 2009, you must renew using the 6-point system that
has been used in the past. This system
also applies to Methods expiring after 5/09 if the certificate holder chooses
to equalize (make all methods expire at the same time) their certifications with
those that expire prior to 5/09.
The requirements for this system are shown at ASNT 6-Point Renewal.
If all of your current ASNT NDT Level III
test methods expire after April 2009, you must renew using the new 25-point
that is shown at ASNT 25-Point Renewal.
Personnel recertifying by examination need not retake the Basic examination
as long as the applicant holds one currently valid ASNT NDT Level III
certificate at the time of examination.
ASNT Central Certification Program (ACCP)
ACCP renewal by points is permitted at the first 5-year interval after certification
by examination. Renewal by examination is required 10-years after examination
unless otherwise noted below. Renewal by examination may be done in
lieu of renewal by points.
Renewal of your ACCP Professional Level III will also satisfy the requirements
for renewal of your ASNT NDT Level III certificates if you hold dual
ASNT certifications.
ACCP Professional Level III
If one or more of your current ACCP Professional Level III test methods expire before May 2009, you must renew using the 6-point system
that has been used in the past. This
system also applies to Methods expiring after 5/09 if the certificate holder
chooses to equalize their certifications with those that expire prior to 5/09. The
requirements for this system are shown at ASNT 6-Point Renewal.
If all of your current ACCP Professional Level III test methods expire
after April 2009, you must renew using the new 25-point
that is shown at ASNT 25-Point Renewal.
Renewal by examination at the 10-year interval will require successful
completion of an abbreviated written examination as detailed in ASNT
25-Point Renewal.
ACCP Level II
The renewal requirements for ACCP Level II certificate holders vary based on
the method in which certification was initially granted. To determine
the requirements that apply to you, select the applicable category below.
If you:
Initially received ACCP certification by
examination prior to 5/1/04, contact the ASNT Technical
Services Department.
Initially received ACCP certification by
examination after 5/1/04, submit Renewal
Application for Examined Level IIs (pdf).
Transitioned into ACCP based on holding
SNT-TC-1A certification, you must recertify by taking
an abbreviated practical examination. Submit Transitioners'
Renewal Application (pdf).
Initially received ACCP certification based
on holding third-party NDT certification (CGSB,
JSNDI, EN-473, etc) from another approved certification body. Submit
Renewal Application for 3rd-Party
Certificate Holders (pdf).
Initially received ACCP certification based
on AWS CWI & SCWI Certification. Submit Renewal
Application for CWI Certificate Holders (pdf).
