What’s in a Name?
Using the right title for
your NDT certification.
Here are some helpful rules for referring to your NDT certification.
- Level III
Individuals certified by examination through their employer, through
a contracted examination agency or a training facility other than
ASNT are said to be “certified in accordance with Recommended
Practice No. SNT-TC-1A.” An employer-certified Level III
may be called a “Level III.”
- ASNT NDT Level III
Individuals certified by ASNT examination are referred to as “ASNT
certified” and may be identified by the title “ASNT
NDT Level III.”
- ACCP Professional Level III
Individuals certified through the ASNT Central Certification Program
(ACCP) are also referred to as “ASNT certified” and
may be identified by the titles “ACCP Level II” or “ACCP
Professional Level III.”
One way ASNT helps the NDT industry understand its certification
programs is by carefully following these rules in its own publications
and reference documents. Sticking to the rules will help protect your
hard-earned certification, and the value behind it.
