2009 Winner Marwan Basrawi has worked
at Saudi Aramco since 1979, starting his career there as a project engineer,
and also holding positions as engineer and engineering supervisor. He
has been the division manager of Saudi Aramco since 1994. Basrawi has
been a member of ASNT since 1998. He is currently the regional director
of Region 19, which also includes the Egyptian Sphinx, Turk and United
Arab Emirates Sections. He has served as the chair of the Saudi Arabian
Section and a member of ASNT’s Board of Directors.
Basrawi received his BS in civil engineering at the University
of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. He completed his master’s
in engineering administration at George Washington University in Washington,
DC.
2009 Winner Anthony J. Gatti, Sr. has
been an employee of Kingsbury, Inc. in Philadelphia for the last 44
years, with the first 17 years spent as a machinist. After transferring
to the quality control department, his interest in NDT began. Gatti
received his initial certification in UT and UT welding from Magnaflux
Quality Service, and later for MT and PT from the same organization.
He currently holds certification in MT, PT, UT and VT, and oversees
all NDT work at Kingsbury.
Gatti has been a member of ASNT since 1988, and has been
an active member in the Philadelphia Section, holding the offices of
membership chair (1994–97), secretary (1997–98), treasurer
(1998–99), vice chair (1999–2000), chair (2000–02)
and executive director (2002–present). He has also been active
on the national level. He has been on the review board for The NDT Technician
since 2002, a member of the Section Operations Council Student Interest
Committee since 2008 and chair of the Section Management Division of
the Section Operations Council since 2008.
2009 Winner Michael J. Ruddy has been
employed as the quality/technical services manager at NOV Tuboscope
in Houston since 1995. Before that he worked at Oilfield Materials Consultants,
Baker Hughes Vetco Services, DJ Inspection Services and Patterson Inspection
Services. Ruddy holds ACCP Professional Level III certification in MT,
PT and UT, and ASNT NDT Level III certification in ET, MT, PT and UT.
He is a lifetime member of ASNT and has been a member since 1983. Ruddy
is currently a director at large on the Board of Directors, the chair
of the SNT-TC-1A Review Committee and is a member of the Governance
Committee, Standards Development Committee, Electromagnetics Committee,
Magnetic Flux Leakage Committee, MT/PT Committee and SNT-TC-1A
Interpretation Panel.
2009 Winner Israel Vásquez has
been involved in quality systems and nondestructive testing since 1972,
beginning as an NDT technician in the US Air Force and as a radiographer
for Aerojet Solid Rocket Propulsion Company. He has also worked at Lockheed
Missiles and Space Company and Magnetic Inspection Laboratory. Vásquez
is an ASNT NDT Level III in MT, PT and RT. Presently, he is an independent
quality systems/NDT consultant and is contracted by the Performance
Review Institute to conduct training and Nadcap audits.
Vásquez has been a member of ASNT since 1981 and
is also a member of the American Society of Quality Control and the
American Society of Testing and Materials.
2009 Winner David J. Vigne is the vice
president of National Inspection and Consultants in Fort Meyers, Florida,
having started working at the company’s Pittsburgh location in
1977. He’s been a member of ASNT since 1977 and is the Certifiction
Management Council’s IRRSP Division chair, as well as chair of
the Basic Examination Committee. Vigne is a mentor for ASNT’s
e-Mentoring Program, a member of both the SNT-TC-1A Review
Committee and Awards Committee, and recently served on the Board of
Directors. He holds ACCP Professional Level III and ASNT NDT Level III
certification in MT, PT, RT, UT and VT.
