The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc. and its Research Council are pleased to announce the following awards to recognize outstanding achievement in nondestructive testing and evaluation:

Research Award for Innovation
Research Award for Sustained Excellence

ASNT is seeking nominations for persons in the categories of Innovation and Sustained Excellence. These awards are sponsored by the ASNT Research Council to honor scientists and engineers for their participation in moving forward the technology of NDE/NDT. The contributions of the research community, providing both innovative breakthroughs and continued contributions, result in significant impact on global safety and reliability for all.


RESEARCH AWARD FOR INNOVATION

Purpose: The primary purpose of the Research Award for Innovation is to recognize highly distinguished individual breakthroughs in research in the field of NDE/NDT within the past five years.

Eligibility: The eligibility requirement for the Research Award for Innovation is an individual breakthrough in NDE/NDT research, made within five years of the date of nomination.

This award can be given no more than once annually and will be presented during ASNT’s Spring Conference and Annual Research Symposium.

The recipient of the Research Award for Innovation will present an overview lecture on his or her breakthrough during the Research Symposium, where an honorary citation will be presented.


RESEARCH AWARD FOR SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE

Purpose: The primary purpose of the Research Award for Sustained Excellence is to recognize outstanding sustained contributions in research in NDE/NDT.

Eligibility: The eligibility requirement for the Research Award for Sustained Excellence is outstanding, sustained contributions in NDE/NDT research made by an individual.

This award can be given no more than once annually and will be presented during ASNT’s Spring Conference and Annual Research Symposium. Each recipient of the Research Award for Sustained Excellence will present a lecture on some aspect of his or her research during the Annual Research Symposium, where an honorary citation will be presented.

TIMELINES AND CONDITIONS

Announcements are made by 1 May of each year, with a nomination deadline of 1 September. The ASNT Research Council Award Committee will announce the selected nominees at ASNT’s Spring Research Symposium.

CONTENT OF NOMINATIONS

Materials submitted for the Research Award for Innovation shall include:

  • A letter of nomination, with a statement identifying the breakthrough, why it is important, and what effect it has had or will likely have to the field of NDE/NDT;
  • Curriculum vitae; and
  • Two (2) letters of support.

Materials submitted for the Research Award for Sustained Excellence shall include:

  • A letter of nomination, with a summary of important achievements and contributions of the nominee in the field of
    NDE/NDT;
  • Curriculum vita; and
  • Two (2) letters of support.

The ASNT Research Award for Innovation and Research Award for Sustained Excellence are prestigious honors reserved solely for those whose exceptional contributions to the science of NDE/NDT have proved to be of innovative or lasting importance and outstanding quality. Both awards are testaments to the distinctive merits of one's work and recognition by one's peers of the groundbreaking and definitive scientific work performed by the recipient.
