Nondestructive Testing Technician

Successful candidate will conduct inspections of fire apparatus such as aerial devices, pumpers and ground ladders in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements. Field and factory inspections of various fire apparatus will be conducted using magnetic particle (MT), visual testing (VT), ultrasound (UT) and liquid penetrant (PT) NDT methods.

  • Candidate must be located within 30 miles of Middlesex, Somerset, or Mercer County, New Jersey.
  • AAS in Nondestructive Testing or Equivalent.
  • SNT-TC-1A Level II certification in MT, VT, UT and/or PT a plus.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, and be able to lift at least 70lbs.
  • Candidate must meet vision requirements as listed in CP-189.
  • Candidate must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and technical ability.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, IBM Laptop Computer, Lotus Notes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to drive with a good driving record (drivers license).
  • Possess physical abilities and financial capabilities to travel.
  • Must provide own transportation for which a mileage allowance is paid.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel; local and overnight travel will be required to visit multiple customer sites.
  • Ability to report data in a concise and timely manner.
