SDC and SDC Subcommittee Membership
Responsibilities
Members of the Standards Development Committee (SDC) are responsible for:
Developing proposed American National Standards within the scope of the committee;
Voting on approval of proposed American National Standards within its scope;
Maintaining the standards developed by the committee;
Adopting committee policy and procedures for interpretations;
Responding to requests for interpretations of the standard(s) developed by the committee;
Adopting committee procedures and revisions thereof;
Attending scheduled meetings;
Responding to committee ballots and correspondence.
The responsibilties of SDC subcommittee members vary with the subcommittee.
Requirements
Members of the committee and its subcommittees shall consist of organizations, companies, government agencies, individuals, and the like, having a direct and material interest in the activities of the committee or subcommittee, and the ability to meet membership responsibilities.
Application
Requests for membership shall indicate the applicant's direct and material interest
in the committee's or subcommittee's work and qualifications and willingness
to participate actively. If the applicant is an organization, company,
or government agency, they shall identify a representative (and an alternate,

Approval
In considering SDC or SDC subcommittee membership approval, the SDC or SDC subcommittee shall consider the:
Need for active participation by each interest;
Potential for dominance by a single interest category;
Extent of interest expressed by the applicant and the applicant's willingness to participate actively;
The representative identified by the applicant organization, company, or government agency.
A simple majority of the SDC or SDC subcommittee is required to admit new members.
