COLUMBUS, OH - The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) is bringing the opportunity for thousands of people across the country to Discover NDT through a display in the American Welding Society’s (AWS) 2019 Careers in Welding Mobile Exhibit tour which launched this week. The new floor-to-ceiling multimedia NDT display beckons visitors of all ages to interact with the generously donated equipment and test samples, ASNT outreach handouts and a captioned video describing NDT, where it’s used and testing methods.
This addition to the trailer is one of the deliverables under a current National Science Foundation (NSF) grant awarded to the partnership group, which includes ASNT, AWS, Chattanooga State Community College (CSCC), The National Center for Welding Education and Training (Weld-Ed), and Lorain County Community College (LCCC).
“ASNT’s display as a new experience for the AWS trailer is visually engaging, educational, and encouraging for visitors to Discover NDT,” says Neal Couture, ASNT Executive Director. “NDT professionals create a safer world by inspecting the structures on which we rely every day. Generating awareness and interest in a well-known venue like the AWS trailer is ideal to place NDT on the radar of careers choices.”
AWS’ thirteen city tour will provide a unique learning experience to its 40,000+ visitors. Its wide array of hands-on exhibits engages the senses and sparks an interest in the welding and NDT industries.
