ASNT Standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel (ANSI/ASNT CP-189)
This American National Standard builds upon the success of Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A by providing comprehensive minimum requirements for personnel certification. Included are requirements for NDT instructors and employer certification of Level I, II, and III personnel, and a requirement for the ASNT NDT Level III certification of Level III personnel. This standard has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

This checklist is based on both the ASNT standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel, ANSI/ASNT CP-189. The document was developed to help company personnel prepare for an NDT personnel training, qualification, and certification audit.

ASNT Standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel ASNT CP-189-1995 (formerly ANSI/ASNT CP-189-1995)
Like the previous ANSI/ASNT standard, this revision provides the minimum requirements for certification which are more stringent than the recommendations of Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A, 1992 edition. It requires central certification plus employer certification of Level III personnel and employer certification of Levels I and II. It requires Level III responsibility for all phases of NDT operations and contains sanctions for improper performance. The standard also includes requirements for NDT instructors. Included in this revision are the visual testing requirements.
