Call for Abstracts: NDE 4.0 2027 Is Open

Join the exchange of ideas shaping the future of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and showcase your work on the international stage.

Submit Session Proposal 

NDE 4.0 exists because the hardest problems in our field don't get solved in isolation — they get solved when researchers, technology developers, end users, and decision makers compare notes on what's actually working. This conference is where that exchange happens.

We're looking for technical papers grounded in real data, real deployments, and real results. If you've solved a hard problem, validated a system in the field, or have a critical perspective on where the industry needs to go, we want your work in front of the people who can act on it.

If you're ready to share what you've learned and push the field forward, submit your paper for NDE 4.0.

Presentation Opportunities at NDE 4.0 2027

If you have expertise, research, or real-world experience to share, there are two ways to get involved as a presenter. Review the options below to find the right fit.

Oral Presentation

A 20–30 minute technical presentation, including a question-and-answer portion, delivered as part of a topical session. A presentation template will be provided to accepted speakers ahead of the event.

Poster Presentation

An alternative format for accepted abstracts, presented during dedicated exhibition and networking hours. Poster presenters follow the same submission and review process as oral presenters.

Full Paper (Optional) 

Accepted presenters have the option to submit a full paper for publication. Papers are due 20 July 2027, and a paper template will be provided closer to the deadline. Accepted papers are expected to be published on NDT.net, consistent with prior conferences in this series.

This year's theme reflects where the field is right now: the technology has moved past proof-of-concept. The open questions are about getting AI-enabled, connected, and autonomous inspection systems into real industrial environments — safely, reliably, and in a way that different systems, vendors, and standards can actually work together on the shop floor and in the field.

Papers addressing adjacent or cross-cutting topics with direct relevance to NDE 4.0 are also welcome. 

Submission Requirements 

  • Abstract: 500 words clearly describing the purpose, methodology, results, and outcome of your work. Abstracts should be specific and results-oriented — papers are reviewed on technical substance, not intent. 

  • Presentation format: indicate oral or poster preference at the time of submission. 

  • Learning objectives: answer the following:

    • What specific problem, technology, or methodology will attendees learn about from this presentation? 

    • What actionable takeaway will attendees be able to apply after attending this session? 

    • How does this work advance the current state of practice in this topic area within NDE 4.0? 

    • Who is the intended audience for this presentation, and what background knowledge should they have?

Speaker Review and Selection Process

The NDE 4.0 Technical Program Committee is made up of respected leaders and experts across a range of NDT methods, industries, and countries. The committee provides strategic direction for the conference program and reviews all speaker proposals.

ASNT and ICNDT are committed to a fair and thoughtful selection process. Presenters are selected based on demonstrated expertise, topic relevance, and alignment with the conference theme and program goals.

Speaker Selection Criteria

Each year, ASNT receives a high volume of submissions for a limited number of speaking opportunities.

Abstracts will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance – Alignment with conference theme and attendee needs

  • Non-Commercial Focus – Content that is objective and free from sales pitches, product promotion, or marketing bias

  • Technical Substance – Methodology and quality of results

  • Evidence and Validation – Real data, validated deployment, or field results

  • Innovation and Originality – Advancement of the state of practice with fresh, forward-thinking insights

  • Expertise – Demonstrated presenter knowledge and qualifications

  • Learning Value – Clear, actionable takeaways

  • Clarity – Well-organized and clearly articulated abstract

Abstracts are reviewed by the Technical Program Committee on a rolling basis, with acceptance notifications issued through 30 January 2027.
