ASNT Introduces Two New Honors: Company Innovation Award and Volunteer of the Year Recognition

(Columbus, OH) The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) is pleased to announce two new honors: the Company Innovation Award and the Volunteer of the Year Recognition. The Company Innovation Award celebrates companies that advance nondestructive testing (NDT) technology, while the Volunteer of the Year Recognition honors ASNT members whose service strengthens the Society and the NDT community. Nominations for both honors are now open through 31 March 2027.

Company Innovation Award

The Company Innovation Award recognizes companies that demonstrate exceptional achievement in advancing NDT technology. It honors companies that drive innovation through the development, application, distribution, or implementation of technologies and products that make NDT more effective, reliable, and impactful.

Any NDT equipment manufacturer or distributor may be nominated, regardless of company size, business model, or geographic location. Nominated companies must have contributed to a verifiable, significant innovation or breakthrough in NDT technology. Shortlisted products will undergo an in-depth evaluation, which may include onsite inspections and interviews with manufacturers to understand each innovation's impact and relevance. Up to three companies will be selected as recipients each year.

Nominations may be submitted by ASNT members, employers, service providers, OEMs, or distributors, and self-nominations are welcome. Each nomination must include a letter describing the company's innovation, its significance, and its impact on the field of NDT, along with supporting documentation such as patents, field trial or pilot reports, case studies, or product showcases. Volunteer of the Year Recognition

The Volunteer of the Year Recognition honors ASNT members who demonstrate exceptional dedication, commitment, and service to the Society. Recipients consistently exceed the expectations of their volunteer roles, making significant contributions that advance ASNT's mission, support its members, and strengthen the NDT community.

Any ASNT member volunteer who went above and beyond in their volunteer role during the previous year is eligible. Nominees are evaluated on the impact, scope, and significance of their contributions, which may include service on ASNT councils, committees, task forces, or working groups; authoring technical articles, books, or other published content; peer reviewing publications and programs; presenting at ASNT conferences, webinars, and section meetings; and participating in outreach that promotes ASNT and the NDT profession. For Board members and officers, the nominated activity must be unrelated to the expectations of their position.

Anyone with knowledge of a volunteer's contributions, including ASNT staff, may submit a nomination. Self-nominations are not permitted. Each nomination must include a letter detailing how the nominee went above and beyond what was expected in their volunteer role. "Recognizing excellence is one of the most meaningful things ASNT does," said Kathy Ferguson, ASNT Board Member and Awards and Honors Council Chair. "The Company Innovation Award and Volunteer of the Year Recognition expand how we celebrate the people and organizations moving our profession forward, from the companies developing breakthrough technologies to the volunteers who give their time to strengthen our Society."

"We encourage everyone in the NDT community to nominate a deserving company or volunteer," said Caroline Gierschick, ASNT Program Manager. "Nominations are simple to submit through our online portal, and each one helps us shine a light on the innovation and service that make our profession stronger."

Nominations for the Company Innovation Award, the Volunteer of the Year Recognition, and all ASNT honors and recognitions are due 31 March 2027.

The new honors join ASNT's established program of honors and recognition, which celebrates outstanding achievements and showcases the expertise, leadership, and contributions of NDT practitioners.
