Personal Statement

Since joining ASNT in 1989, I have dedicated my career to microwave and millimeter-wave nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT/E) through sustained research activities, educating numerous students (at all levels), prolifically publishing research outcomes, and generating 21 US patents, with several abroad. As an active member of ASNT, I have learned about its unique culture and mission, which are focused on benefiting its members and the broader society. As the Director of the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE) at Iowa State University (2019–2025), I have amassed a holistic understanding of our local, national, and global NDT/E needs, concerns, and challenges. I have gained significant hands-on experience in navigating complex organizational processes while working effectively with a broad spectrum of people. These collective experiences are critical in a time when ASNT is envisioning increasing involvement in scientific research. It is with these in mind that I intend to contribute effectively to the ASNT Board of Directors’ vision and objectives.
